Our story

Ohana Yummy BBQ & Khan Khan Thai Food Truck
In 2024, we embraced a fresh start and returned to our roots—this time in Haleiwa Town on Oahu’s North Shore. Our new venture features Ohana Yummy BBQ, a food truck specializing in fresh poke, Korean BBQ, and local-style favorites. Right next door, Khan Khan Thai Food Truck continues our tradition of serving bold, authentic Thai-Lao cuisine with the same heart and flavor our customers have come to love.
Though the name has changed, the mission remains the same: to serve delicious, health-conscious meals made with aloha—and to carry on the legacy of S & S Thai Kitchen, a name that stood for success (som) and happiness (sak) in Thai.
Our journey began in 2014 as a food truck parked near Old Stadium Park in Honolulu. Back then, we focused on simple, fresh Thai and Laotian dishes and quickly built a loyal following.
In 2016, we expanded into the newly opened Japan Village Walk inside Shirokiya at Ala Moana Center, where our menu grew and our reputation flourished.
By 2018, we achieved our dream of opening a sit-down restaurant in Waikiki, offering house specials, desserts, beer, and wine—introducing even more people to our food and culture.
In 2020, we moved to the west side of Oahu, opening a location at Ka Makana Ali‘i in Kapolei. With dine-in, takeout, and catering services, we became a staple in the community.
Most recently, in 2024, we rebranded and took over a Korean BBQ mini mart in Nanakuli, blending Thai-Lao cuisine with local plate lunch favorites. Many of our ingredients came directly from our farm in Kahuku, supporting Hawaii’s food sustainability goals with fresh, mostly organic produce.
Now, we’re proud to be in Haleiwa—still cooking with care, still staying true to our roots, and still hoping to see familiar faces and welcome new ones. Whether you're craving poke, Kalbi, or Pad Thai, we've got something made just for you.
Thank you for supporting us through every chapter. We hope to serve you soon in Haleiwa!
